Because of inclement weather, the only external celebrations successfully held were those in the morning, namely Blessing of Horses and Dog Show by the Malta Police. At the same time in a garage, Reptile and Rodent shows were being held. All these were of great interest. The photos in this album are those of the blessing of horses by Archpriest Mgr Carmel Refalo. This was followed by a defile of the horses from St Anthony Square to Victory Square.. The Victory Band of Xaghra followed playing hilarious marches. The statue of the Saint, this time carried on shoulders, followed. On arriving in Victory Square, the hymn to the Saint was played. The statue then entered the Basilica. It was programmed to return to St Anthony Square in the afternoon for the blessing of pets and animals but this had to be cancelled because of showers. Photos courtesy of Manny Buhagiar.
