Xaghra Parish » Gallery » 2014 » 30 NOV 2014 - ST NICHOLAS AT SANT ANTON

After Mass, Bishop Grech, met people from the community in front of the Church. He then sprinkled Holy Water on statuettes of Baby Jesus. Every year, the Rector gives a small present with a message at Christmas time to families of the Community, This year's chosen theme theme was 'I was a foreigner and you welcomed me'. An image of Baby Jesus in a manger lying on a large pebble painted in blue depicting the sea with waves on it resembling the ordeal of today's adults and children crossing the Mediterranean running away from war and persecution in their own countries and needing our help. The Bishop sprinkled Holy water on the statuettes and the gathered people.

It was then the turn of St Nicholas to arrive leading a donkey with the Church bells ringing in welcome. In front of the Church, a short play was held by children with the story of St Nicholas. Afterwards, Bishop Grech distributed the memoralia to the families present.
