Fr Ignatius Borg, from Xaghra, was installed as Archpriest of Qala on Saturday 15th November 2014. In a solemn ceremony presided over by Gozo Bishop, His Lordship Mgr Mario Grech Fr Borg took over the Office of Spiritual leader of Qala. The Ite Ad Josef Band of Qala marched to the Archpriest's House from were it accompanied Fr Ignatius to the Church. The parishioners were waiting in front of the Church and they welcomed their new Archpriest with warm applause. Qala Mayor gave him a welcome address and promised that the Local Council will work closely with the new archpriest for the benefit of all Qala parishioners. Then followed the ceremony inside the Church. Leading the congregation were the family of Fr Ignatius, among whom was his brother Joe who came purposely from Melbourne. Besides the local Council, present were also dignitaries from civil society. The Hon Minister for Gozo and Gozitan Honourable Members of Parliament.
