On Saturday 23 May, the Xaghra Historical Group, under the direction of Mr Victor Theuma, gave a colourful re enactment of the times of the Great Siege in 1565. Clad in colourful vests of the Order at the time of the Siege, the beautiful work of seamstress Mrs Jane Bajada,  and led by drummers and trumpeteers, from Triq ir-Repubblika they marched to the Citadel passing through Pjazza Indipendenza, Pjazza Savina and Triq il-Kastell. Inside the Cittadella, they paraded in the Pjazza tal-Katidral, the Square in front of the Cathedral. Two of the knights went up to the bastions where the Order's flag was flying and since it was sunset they brought down the white cross on a red background. They then joined the group in the Square below and together moved along the bastions patrolling the Citadel fortifications.  in the end they returned to the starting point in Triq ir-Repubblika where they were dismissed to the applause of the spectators.
