The sojourn of the statue of St John Bosco in Xaghra was extended by one day. Before leaving on the evening of Monday, 18 May 2009, Mass was said for children at 5.00 p.m. by Archpriest Mgr Carmelo Refalo with Can Julian Refalo Rapa co celebrating. Young girls under the direction of Ms Joanne Sultana playing guitars animated the singing. After Mass the children went out to greet the statue on its way out of the Basilica. There, two children, a girl and a boy, were drawn by lot to receive a statuette of the Saint. The statue was then taken out and a group photo of all the children attending was taken in front of the Basilica. The final act was for the statue to be loaded onto a pickup and left for the next Parish, Sannat.
